Amy Berg
Principal, Philanthropy
Principal, Philanthropy at BrightEdge of the American Cancer Society.
Amy comes to ACS with nearly 30 years of development experience. Her career started in politics working on national campaigns in Washington, DC. After the birth of her first child, she transitioned to a more donor centric approach to fundraising in higher education. She helped launch the first Donor Relations office at Dartmouth College, contributing to their first billion-dollar comprehensive campaign. From there, she grew into direct major and principal gift fundraising roles, closing her first million-dollar gift within 6 months at UMass Amherst, before joining the Jewish philanthropic world with roles at Hadassah, her local Jewish Federation and, most recently, The Jewish Agency. But she has spent most of the last 10 years of her career in national healthcare based fundraising roles at the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF).
At JDRF, she was the lead fundraiser for their COVID emergency campaign, working closely with national volunteers, the senior leadership team and field staff across the country to raise more than $15.5M in 90 days. She was also a top fundraiser for JDRF’s T1D Fund -- one of the most successful venture philanthropy funds in the country, becoming fully funded and reaching a self-sustaining status in just 6 years.
Amy is most proud of the relationships she has built over the years with donors, volunteers, field staff and senior leadership teams, to help donors and prospects reach their philanthropic goals through transformational giving. Coming to ACS is personal for Amy. She lost her father to cancer when she was just 16.
